Misconceptions of Margaret Sanger and the Eugenics movement

Одно из (не единственное) направлений критики МС и её движения -- расизм, она, якобы, хотела стерилизовать негров, основываясь на евгенических идеях. Статья (см. ниже) профессора социальной работы Университета Южного Иллинойса рассматривает некоторые из этих обвинений. Джеральд В. О'Брайана "Маргарет Сэнгер и нацисты: Сколько степеней отчуждения".
Помечу, чтобы не забыть: обратился к автору с просьбой прислать -- жду ответа, пока нет.

Евгенические соединения МС:

1. не следует размножаться не готовым (unfit евгенически) к этому (экономически, морально, по здоровью и проч.)
2. надо дать возможность не размножаться
3. организуется 1 и 2 предоставлением информации беднякам по их просьбе 

С сопсно евгенической? идеей: расово кошерные мамочки должны рожать как можно больше, МС не соглашалась, опираясь, имхо, на внутреннее мальтузианство, но с тем, что дебилов надо стерилизовать, была вполне согласна, как и все тогда, включая друга Сталина президента Рузвельта. Эта идея не нацистская, исходит, видимо, из дурно понятой, точнее, недоученой генетики. Генетически рассуждая, надо стерилизовать всех.

Поскольку бедность и расовая принадлежность заметно положительно коррелируют, вывод о расизме выглядит естественным. Ну, а раз расист, значит и гитлерист :)

Собственно в этом гитлеризм и состоял: расово годные размножаются, расово негодные -- нет. Кредо МС -- выбор, хошъ размножайся, не хошъ не размножайся. Почуйствуй разницу! Надо проверить: запретил ли Гитлер контрацепцию?

Not until the parents of the world are thus given control over their reproductive faculties will it ever be possible not alone to improve the quality of the generations of the future, but even to maintain civilization even at its present level. Only by self-control of this type, only by intelligent mastery of the procreative powers can the great mass of humanity be awakened to the great responsibility of parenthood.

Покуда родители не получат возможность контролировать свою способность к родительству, никакого улучшения породы не будет, более того неконтролируемое размножение угрожает цивилизации. Только контроль способности к рождению ведёт к ответственному родительству.

Sanger's tour of several German cities in the summer of 1920 informed her reform work for years to come. Her insights into the plight of poor German women gave a new urgency to her belief in the need for women everywhere to define and assert their reproductive rights. Her observations of German children shaped her views on eugenics and humanitarianism. Everything she saw reinforced her faith in Malthusian theory--her understanding of how over population inevitably leads to distress and human suffering, and forces political leaders to follow a path of expansionism and war." "The old-fashioned warrior who entered with sword and killed his victims outright has my respect after witnessing the 'Peace' conditions of Germany," she wrote shortly after leaving Europe. She aimed for shock value a few months later in a dinner speech before the Women's Economic Club in Philadelphia, when she suggested that rather than sending aid for starving children in Germany and other European countries, the United States should "send over a quantity of chloroform to put them out of their misery," because that would be the best thing for the children and the future of the world."
