Restrictions on access: The papers are open to research according to the regulations of the Sophia Smith Collection. However, in order to preserve the original materials, researchers are requested to use the microfilm for those portions of the collection where it's available.

Restrictions on use: Alexander Sanger, as representative of the Sanger family, holds copyright to unpublished works by Margaret Sanger. Permission must be obtained to publish reproductions or quotations beyond "fair use." Copyright to materials created by others may be owned by those individuals or their heirs or assigns. It is the responsibility of the researcher to identify and satisfy the holders of all copyrights.
